September Gallery Night:
Comics vs. Art IV—The Gods Have Spoken
Saturday, September 7, 6-9pm

When most people think about comics, they don’t think of them fine art, even though some comics have amazing artwork. Comics vs Art started as a fun way to juxtapose fine art and comic art, a way to look at the divide between high art and low art. When choosing fine art paintings to be reinterpreted as comic art, curator Canada Keck, picks paintings that have a story she wants to hear more about.

Canada chose this year’s theme, The Gods Have Spoken, after listening to the audio book of Neil Gaiman’s Norse Mythology. She selected paintings as well as cultural artifacts such as pottery, stone reliefs, statues, and documents—looking to represent a large number of mythologies and religions from around the world and throughout the centuries.

A huge thank you to Greater Columbus Arts Council, Ohio Arts Council, The Columbus Foundation and Puffin Foundation West for their continued support of our gallery series.
