The Amiable Association of

Articulate Atheists, Agnostics,

and Adherents

The a7 is an organization that strives to create philosophically rigorous (but friendly) discussions about religion.

All too often, public discourse about religion is shallow and mean-spirited. The aexists to remedy this situation. We believe that people who strongly disagree with each other on matters of substance can, with effort, come together and have mutually rewarding conversations. A little respectful disagreement keeps us all honest. When we are called upon to explain our views to those who do not already accept them, we learn to subject them to close scrutiny, not necessarily to reject them (although there is certainly a time for that) but to hold them in a rationally respectable way. In the end, this is good for everyone because people who strive to think critically are not only better members of society, they are happier and more complete as individuals as well.
