JESSIE BOETTCHER
JESSIE BOETTCHER
Bio
Jessie grew up in the farmlands of Ohio--she's the oldest of four sisters, her first artistic collaborators. At Calvin she was a part of the Calvin Theatre Company, where she discovered the scope of creative components that go into making theatre. She met her super-cool husband at Calvin and together they spent four years in Minneapolis, Minnesota, while she got her master's degree in theatre and served as artistic director for the University of Minnesota's Xperimental Theatre. Since moving to Columbus in the summer of 2006 Jessie has done interviews and participant-observation research for her doctoral degree, started teaching in the Theatre Department at Ohio State, and knitted lots and lots of socks.
Artistic Interests
Jessie loves theatre and doesn't mind acting but she'd rather be directing or helping actors develop new works. She's currently putting the finishing touches on her doctoral dissertation, which theorizes handcraft practices through the lens of performance. She is an avid knitter. She is a Gocco enthusiast--Gocco is a small-scale screenprinting machine--and also, when time and inspiration allows, works in collage and bookmaking.
Job Description
Jessie is the Catalyst for Wild Goose Creative--she's the go-to person for new project development and in general gets things started. She wants to have a conversation with you about what you're passionate about and help get a project on its feet to help generate first steps toward realization.
She is also the person you want to talk to if you are a visual artist and would like to display your work on our gallery wall.

Jessie is working closely with her advisors to complete her dissertation, a long-term creative undertaking. After she’s done she’ll be a doctor, which is cool..
Jessie is collaborating with Andy Taylor on their second go at Park(ing) Day, one of many events to take place in cities worldwide on September. For this project, they are pooling their common interests in performance and public space.
With co-conspirator and co-Goose Beth Dekker, Jessie is collaborating on the soon-to-be-unveiled installation piece, an art vending machine!
Jessie collaborates with artists of all stripes to make the gallery happen. Stay tuned for projects that pass between her hands and those of folks like Michael Neno, Sharon Bell (through Moms at Work), Olivia Bratich (Wholly Craft), and Alison Colman—among others!
