Bio

Ryan grew up in a little town on Lake Michigan called South Haven. In his town there was one red lighthouse and two sand colored beaches. After high school he left small town life behind and moved to the metropolis of Grand Rapids, MI where he got educated, liberal arts style, at Calvin College.

While at Calvin he majored in theatre and met the other founding members of Wild Goose Creative including his beautiful wife Jacqui who was from the exotic and mysterious country of Canada. After a few years of holding hands and falling madly in love they got married on one of the sand colored beaches in his home town.

After this he and Jacqui trekked out to the Canadian northwest to the beautiful city of Vancouver.  There they worked many long but fun hours as apprentices at Pacific Theatre, an incredible theatre company in the heart of the city. Finally after their year long, west coast adventure they boarded a plane which served them peanuts (honey roasted!) and traveled to Columbus, OH. After settling in, they helped found Wild Goose Creative with the Boettchers and the Dekkers.

After first moving to Columbus, Ryan worked for Jeni’s Ice Cream. It was delicious. Currently, he enjoys working as the office administrator for an educational consultant named Andy and as the Shepherd for Wild Goose Creative. He is continually trying to find tasteful ways to display a large collection of wiener dog themed art which he amassed between the ages of 11 and 16.

Artistic Interests

Trained in theatre, Ryan has acted, directed, stage managed, painted and built sets, and written plays. Fascinated by the art of story telling, one of his main interests is the collecting, compiling and performing oral histories. He’s also into writing and performing slam poetry, singing from time to time, and writing essays. Ryan enjoys paper craft and has a sizable collection of handmade paper and glue sticks. Lately he’s been enjoying comic books and listening to new music.
