Bio
Nick was born, raised, and schooled in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He studied English and theatre at Calvin College and graduated in 2001. He and his wife Beth married later that year, then they moved down to Columbus to attend graduate school at Ohio State University. Nick finished his M.A. and Ph.D. in Theatre at Ohio State, and now teaches and directs plays there.
Artistic Interests
Nick is a playwright, actor, improver, drummer, director, and teacher. He’s written one full-length play, Haven, and several of his shorter pieces have been produced at Calvin College, Ohio State, and the Wild Goose Creative New Year’s Festival. He’s currently working on a play about the life of physician Edward Jenner.
Job Description
Nick is The Reference for Wild Goose Creative. He’s the historian and archivist of the company. He organizes and maintains all the information and records, serves as a judge for mediation purposes, and an MC for public events.


Nick is currently working with Karl Boettcher, Andy Anderson, and Ryan Hoke forming Moot Knacks, a jazz/spoken word quartet. He also produces and hosts the WGC podcast, along with Jacqui Hoke, Karl Boettcher, and Ryan Hoke. Most importantly, he and his wife, Elizabeth Dekker, are collaborating on raising their first child, William.
