ANDY ANDERSON

Bio

Andrew Anderson is a graduate of both Capital University (B.A. – 2004) and The Ohio State University (M.A. – 2006).  He is currently pursuing a Doctorate at the Ohio State University in the area of French Language and Literature and hopes to combine his love of French with his love of Absurdist Theater for his thesis.  However, when he thinks about his thesis, he gets a little light headed and has to sit down, so he doesn't wish to discuss it further.

Andrew's interest in French began shortly after high school when he studied abroad for a year with the Rotary International Exchange program.  His time in Fougères, France, 30 miles outside of Rennes, was sufficient to change his future plans from English Major to French Major, and a second trip abroad in 2002 cemented his interest in French Culture.  Since then he had been avidly perusing used book stores wherever he can find them in search of more and more French books, and this, much to the chagrin of his wife who rightly asserts that there are only so many shelves in the apartment.

At Capital University, Andrew met and eventually married Amanda.  They both live in the columbus Suburb of Clintonville and have one rabbit named Wally.

Artistic Interests

Absurdist Theater with an interest in the "outsider" and the "stranger."  Playwrights like Beckett, Ionesco, Genet, Pinter, Stoppard, and Albee.  He appreciates Shakespeare but is not enamored with him.  Apologies.

Poetry, including but not limited to the poetry of James Tate, Charles Simic, Sharon Olds, and E.E. Cummings.

Music – Barenaked Ladies, Martin Sexton, Lifehouse, Georges Brassens, Alain Souchon, Boby Lapointe, The Who, Neil Diamond.  He is not ashamed of any of his musical choices.

Musical Instruments – He enjoys playing the guitar, the bass, the djembe, and would probably be up for learning just about anything.

CURRENT PROJECTS

A forthcoming book of poetry, tentatively entitled In medias res… to add to his other collections.

MootKnacks – a jazz poetry ensemble thing… it's hard to describe.  Come to a show and see how you would describe it.  Then describe it to all your friends so they can come and do the same thing.  If this process is repeated about 7 times, everyone in the world will know about the band.  That would be cool.

Dissertation… but Andrew has already mentioned that he doesn't wish to speak of it.
