BIKE MONTH

This May is Bike Month at Wild Goose Creative!

WGC is happy to participate in National Bike Month with these offerings that celebrate bicycles and art. We hope you'll join us for some or all of the month!

Bike Month @ WGC is sponsored by Yay Bikes!, Fulcrum Creatives, and Jeremy Slagle Design with additional support from Pedal Instead. During Bike Month, Wild Goose Creative is sponsored by a generous grant from the Columbus Foundation. See below for information about other great sponsors and event partners.

EVENTS:

May 5

Speak Easy: Move It! Stories of Locomotion.

7PM, $5. BYOB.

Whether it's trains, planes, automobiles, bikes, boats, segways, or our own two feet some interesting things can happen as we interact with the machinery that moves us through life.  Along the way, you'll never know who you'll meet, what'll happen, or what you'll learn. So, in celebration of Bike Month at WGC we're devoting this May's theme to all the interesting/crazy/wild/funny/life-changing/heartbreaking/amazing/unbelievable/dangerous/profound things that can happen as we find different ways of getting from Point A to Point B.

May 11

Spring Clean-Up & Road-Side Repair @ Franklinton Cycleworks

7PM. NOTE: this event located at 897 Broad Street, Franklinton

Get that bike spruced up for warm-weather riding, and learn a few tips for servicing your bike on the go! The team at this nonprofit bike co-op is committed to educating more bike riders about how to take care of their bikes and getting bikes and bike tools in the hands of everyone, including marginalized populations.

May 14

Pinchflat: A Bicycle Poster Blowout.

1-9PM, admission is free. Bike ride at 1PM.

We are thrilled to feature over 20 posters by central Ohio artists. Join us for a party to celebrate bikes and buy a super-affordable limited-edition work of art! Watch pinchflatcolumbus.com for details about music, food, sponsors, participating artists, and food trucks that will be present at the event. Pedal Instead is providing bike parking, so ride on over!

May 19

The Past and Future of Bicycle Propaganda

7-9PM, donations appreciated, BYOB; light snacks provided

Meredith Joy of Yay Bikes! will offer a short presentation on bicycle propaganda past and present, then lead a salon-style discussion that considers the future of imagery, messaging and dissemination tactics to promote utilitarian bicycling. The posters of Pinchflat will be used as a catalyst for our conversation.

May 25

DIY Bike Light Workshop and Happy Hour.

7-11PM, $25, BYOB.

Join us and bring your ideas and designs for a unique bike tail light! This is a hands-on workshop, so we will teach you how to assemble your design and solder together the LEDs, resistor, on/off switch and battery pack. We will provide all the materials and tools to build your own custom bike light. Let’s light up the night!

No previous experience with soldering or electronics is necessary – this is an intro level workshop. Questions? Please email Jesse Hemminger, the workshop instructor!

You are encouraged to preregister for this workshop! Visit HERE. Thanks!
